Session {FAQ}

    Where is your studio?

~Bonnie Raley Photography has a home studio in West Chester (very close to Brinton Lake Shopping Center in Glen Mills).  My home studio allows for the best of both worlds offering indoor space with props/backdrops perfect for babies and children.  My outdoor space is 2 acres of gorgeous property with mature trees and a split rail fence for a very natural, countryside setting. In an hour session you can easily accomplish both to have a very diverse gallery to choose from.   (Here are two examples from a gorgeous, sunset session at my studio).

Do you do sessions outside of your home studio?

~I sure do!  I often go to parks in the Chester County area for a different look.  Longwood Gardens is a popular option too!  The options are endless there and the scenery is unrivaled.  I’m happy to discuss other locations that are of interest to you and make suggestions.  Travel fees may apply and there is a $50 fee for an in-home newborn session.

Do you offer the digital files?  Can I print them on my own?

~Yep I offer digital files and they are high-resolution and come with a print release.

How fast can I have my images?  Err…I mean, what is the timeline for how this works?

~Basically people contact me (depending on session type) several weeks to a month or two out to get on my calendar.  We go over all the details/session specifics/pay deposits/discuss wardrobe all prior to the session.  After your session, I get you a gallery of lightly edited images for you to choose from in approximately 10-14 days.  In slower months I am normally turning this around closer to 7 days.  Once you let me know what images you want I can have them back to you ready for download and printing and sharing within 36-48 hours.

What time of day is best for an outdoor session?

~This typically varies depending on the time of year.  Sessions are best held about 1-2 hours prior to sunset. It provides a gorgeous, glowy feel to your images and very consistent and even light.  The images shown above are the EXACT reason why making this timeframe work.  It’s beyond stunning.

Will you help us figure out what to wear?

~Oh my gosh yes!  I offer style guides, pinterest boards and am a sounding board for you to discuss ideas. I can also help direct you to some amazing sites with some truly unique outfits.

Will you do an extended family session?

~Yep! At this time there are no extra fees involved.  But please be aware we must stick to the timeframe of the session you choose.  So all the different type of pose/combinations could be limited.

We want an outdoor session but evening timeframe doesn’t work for my child(children)?

~I do realize the idea of an evening session does not sound ideal.  However, most parents just make sure to accommodate with late naps or an extra nap and a full belly.  Once you child has the ability to get out and explore outside I can assure you they are generally  happy that time of day.  We can discuss other options but there are most certainly limitations.

What if someone in my family gets sick?  What if we are scheduled for an outdoor shoot and its raining?

~Please contact me ASAP once you know we need to reschedule a session due to illness.  It’s not a problem!  I just transfer the session deposit you paid to the date we both mutually agree upon for the reschedule.  Regarding weather, I’m always in contact with you within a few days of the session to discuss weather.  If need be, we just reschedule based on the info I just provided.

I would like a maternity session but when should we do it?

~Maternity sessions are best booked around 32-36 weeks so your bump is nice and round.  Mostly importantly I think we should do it when you feel beautiful and are ready.

When do I book a newborn session?

~It’s best to contact me during your pregnancy.  Most photographers, myself included, can only accommodate a set amount each month since due dates and timing of births can vary.  I set my calendar so that I allow room or flexibility knowing you can go early or late.  As soon as the baby is born, please send me a quick text or email.  We work to set a date as quickly as possible approximately 5-10 days after the baby is born.  You want this timeframe so that baby is still very sleepy and so they are willing to be posed in those squishy little poses.  After the two week mark babies tend to be very alert, are less resistant to posing and baby acne starts forming around this time.  That is why it’s ideal to capture this time in the 5-10 day timeframe.

How soon do I need to pay my deposit to reserve a date?

~Due to my current schedule, I am only booking 2 sessions per week so contact me as early as possible to ensure you get the date/timeframe you need. The deposit is paid to reserve your date and time on my calendar.  The balance of the package you desire is paid no later than 24 hours prior to the session.

Is there sales tax?

~ 6% PA sales tax will apply to session fees and product.
